Baseball, softball and tee ball are offered for children ages 3 to 15 as of April 30, 2013 as follows:
Pee Wee Tee Ball: Ages 3-4 (bat off tee) - Sunday mornings at Taney or Palumbo fields.
Tee Ball: Ages 5-6 (bat off tee) - weekend games & one evening of practice a week.
AAA Baseball: Ages 7-8 (4 innings pitching machine & 2 innings of player pitch hardball) - weekend games & two evenings of practice a week.
Minor League Baseball: Ages 9-10 - weekend games & two evenings of practice a week.
Major League Baseball: Ages 11-12 - weekend games & two evenings of practice a week.
13-15 Baseball: Age-specific teams for players who are 13, 14 and 15. Teams register and play in area leagues.
Girls Softball: Ages 9 to 13 - weekend games & two evenings of practice a week. Ages 14 and 15 - weekend games & two evenings of practice a week.
For all leagues except Pee Wee Tee Ball, there may also be practice on weekend days when no games are scheduled.
The 2013 season begins on April 6th and ends on June 15th, including playoffs, championship games and All-Star games. Practices begin in early March for baseball and the end of March for softball and Tee Ball. Pee Wee Tee Ball begins on Sunday, April
Tryouts (mandatory for all baseball and softball players) will be held on February 23rd & 24th for registered players ages 7 to 15 as of April 30, 2013. Times and locations will be announced. All registered players are placed on a team; tryouts are to help balance the teams.
Practices begin in early to mid-March for baseball, and the end of March for Softball and Tee Ball. Pee Wee Tee Ball begins on Sunday, April 7th.
Register on-line using VISA or MasterCard by clicking on the Registration page on the left. The registration fee is $95.00 per player. There is an "Early Bird Discount" of $10.00 for each application received by February 10, 2013, and a "Sibling Discount" of $10.00 for each additional child in the same family. Other contributions are completely voluntary. Financial support comes from business and individual Sponsors, Friends of TYBA and Fair Share donors. Scholarship information is available upon request, and will be kept confidential. All children may participate, regardless of financial circumstances.
Coaches attend Training Clinics with Mike Bucci, a former Major League Baseball player, coach and scout, and former coordinator of the Phillies Youth Baseball Camps. Mike evaluates every player at tryouts and offers coaching clinics for all coaches and pitching clinics for players.
All players are issued uniforms, which they may keep. All players receive trophies, with special recognition for the championship and runner-up teams in each league. Tournament teams are selected by tryouts for post-season competition. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted at games, practice or league activities.
